I was in a group last night talking about prophesy, about the prophetic still being alive and in the works today. I must say that there has been a lot of things said to me in the prophetic sense that I have been very sketchy about. I do believe that the Lord can use someone as a mouthpiece to correct, edify, or comfort someone. I believe in the supernatural power of the Lord. I believe that these are true and worthwhile of sharing with you. I was just wondering what your beliefs were on this subject. We are called to test the prophesy by truth. Here are a few guidelines to go by:1. What is the fruit of the life of the prophet.2. Does the prophesy glorify God.3. Does the prophesy agree or line up with the scriptures.4. Is the prophesy fulfilled.5. Is the prophesy confusing or disjointed.6. Does the prophesy produce liberty or bondage.7. Does the prophesy bear witness with our spirits. Why a prophesy is important:1. Brings life.2. Gives spiritual vision3. Edifies or comforts4. Brings revival or restoration5. Guides you where one needs to go in Christ. Now, I didn’t come up with this information on my own by any means. It came from a ministry that I am a part. I wanted to know what your thoughts are about it. Do you still believe that a prophesy is for today? Do you believe that there are prophets?

um… I know that you know my answer, but I thought I would leave in anyhow… Yes, I believe it is still very much alive today. I believe that more than ever, people need to hear the prophetic voice spoken. I also believe that there are false prophets too. Which is why you should know the word of God so that you can filter thoroughly what is said from the mouth of any human.
1 Corinthians 12:28 Shows the Lord Jesus’ intention that “Prophets” as well as Apostles, and teachers be “Set” in the Church. The scriture indicates that the gift office of Prophet along with the gift office of Apostle in relation to Jesus Himself being the Cornerstone are the “foundation” upon which God intended the Church then/now to be built. There is no indication in the Scripture that I know of where Jesus expressed that His Words on this matter were rescended. The term “set” in that verse is a governmental tem. In Ephesians 4:7-14 Jesus “gave” the grace gifts of Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor, and Teacher to “equip” or “mature/perfect” the Saints. This was until we all come to the unity of the faith the measure of the full stature of Christ and a state of Perfection (maturity). So in this light I would pose a question. Has the Corporate or any local expression of the Church attained that standard yet? I would answer no. If that is the case then all 5 of those gift ministries / Offices are still needed, valid and pertinant today. Surely you knew I couldn’t resist

I am with Heather!! :>) and Kelly! Just not enough time to write.
Funny, I drove by a Church of God of Prophecy last night and it got me thinking about this very thing. Yes, I do believe in prophecy. Not doing so would be nothing more than denying God’s whole Word. I think the Bible, if highlighted, would have every word colored. That said, how does/can it apply now. I wasn’t with Paul when he saw visions. I wasn’t with Daniel when he saw the writing on the wall. Thinking about it now, I want to be a part of prophecy.
The question is “how?” I’m lost to that.
Acts 1: 3-8, Luke 11:9-12, Acts 2:16&17, 1Corinthians 12 1-11,
I would counsel you if you haven’t already to ask God to Baptize you with His Spirit & to use you & then be willing to take a chance on looking foolish when He starts to. You receive these things the same way you did salvation & the same way you do everything else in the Kingdom of God…….by faith.
If you will allow God to use you He will. It may not be when or how you expect but nonetheless….
